Refund & Cancellation Policy

At SAFA Driving Academy we want every student to feel confident in their decision to enroll. Please read this policy carefully before purchasing. All refund requests must be submitted by email to info@safadrivingacademy.ca and are subject to the terms below.

General rule: All refund requests must be made within 30 days of the date of registration / purchase. After 30 days, all sales are final regardless of service type or usage.

1. BDE (Beginner Driver Education) Packages

BDE packages include online coursework, in-car lessons, and (depending on the package) additional road-test support. Refunds are as follows:

Before in-car lessons begin

  • A full refund is available, minus a $50 administrative fee, if requested before your first in-car lesson has taken place.

After the first in-car lesson

  • A partial refund will be issued, minus the $50 administrative fee and the cost of one in-car lesson hour.

After two or more in-car lessons

  • No refund will be issued after the completion of two or more in-car lessons, or after 30 days since the date of registration — whichever comes first.

2. Private Driving Lessons (G2 & G)

Single lesson (1 hour)

  • Full refund if cancelled with more than 24 hours’ notice.
  • A $25 late-cancellation fee applies if cancelled within 24 hours of the scheduled lesson — unless:
    • The cancellation is due to a weather-related safety concern;
    • The cancellation is due to a legitimate emergency (at the instructor’s discretion); or
    • The instructor initiated the cancellation.

Multi-lesson packages & lesson + road test bundles

  • If lessons have not yet started, a full refund is available (within the 30-day window).
  • If some lessons have been completed, the cost of completed lessons will be deducted and the remaining unused lessons will be refunded.
  • The same 24-hour cancellation policy (and the $25 late-cancellation fee) applies to each individual lesson within a multi-lesson package.

3. Road Test Car Rental Packages

  • A full refund is available if the road test appointment has not yet taken place and the request is made within 30 days of purchase.
  • If the road test appointment has already occurred, no refund will be issued.
  • Road test packages are not subject to the $50 BDE administrative fee.

4. Payment Method Fee Deductions

When a refund is processed, applicable payment method fees are deducted from the refunded amount:

  • Stripe (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay): An additional 3% processing fee will be deducted from the refund.
  • Afterpay / Clearpay (available on BDE packages only): An additional 6% processing fee will be deducted — in addition to any applicable BDE administrative fee.
  • Interac e-Transfer: No additional processing fee.

Example refund calculations

  • BDE Silver via Stripe, before lessons: Full price − $50 admin fee − 3% Stripe fee.
  • BDE Gold via Afterpay, after 1 lesson: Full price − $50 admin fee − cost of 1 lesson hour − 6% Afterpay fee.
  • BDE Platinum via e-Transfer, before lessons: Full price − $50 admin fee (no additional processing fee).
  • Single G2 lesson via Stripe, cancelled >24 hrs ahead: Full price − 3% Stripe fee.
  • 3-lesson G package via Stripe, 1 lesson completed: Cost of 2 unused lessons − 3% Stripe fee.

5. How to Request a Refund

  • Email info@safadrivingacademy.ca with your full name, the service purchased, your purchase date, and the reason for your request.
  • We will respond within 3 business days to confirm eligibility.
  • Approved refunds are processed back to the original payment method within 5–10 business days (Stripe) or by e-Transfer within 5 business days.
